Statement of Faith

For the purpose of maintaining unity, BFI has adopted the following:

We believe all scriptures to be the divinely inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God                              ( 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 ).

We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit                  ( Luke 3:22; Matthew 28:19 ).

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth ( Matthew 1:23), in His sinless life ( Hebrews 7:26 ), His miracles (Acts 2:22),  in His vicarious and redemptive death through       His shed blood ( Hebrews 9:22  2 Corinthians 15:3 ), in His bodily resurrection ( Matthew 28:6 ),  in His ascension to the right hand of the Father ( Hebrews 12:2; Acts 1:9 ), and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe the church of Jesus Christ has a five fold purpose, Worship ( Romans 12:1, 2; Matthew22:37-39 ), Discipleship (Matthew 28:19, 20), Evangelize (Matthew 28:19, 20 ),  Fellowship (  Hebrews 10:24, 25 ) and Service  ( Ephesians 4:11-16 ).

We believe in the church ordinances of Holy Communion ( 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 ), and water baptism by emersion ( Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38 ).

We believe that for the salvation of a lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is biblically essential ( John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5).

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and by indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life ( Galatians 5:22, 23; John 14:15-17; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17, 6:11 )

We believe spiritual gifts are given to all believers and are operational in the church today (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Ephesians 4:7-16 ).

We believe that to every believer God has provided a measure of spiritual power for the evangelism of the lost ( Matthew 28:18-20).

We believe in the blessed hope of the resurrection and rapture of the saints ( 1 Thessalonians 4:16 17).

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost ; that they are saved unto the resurrection of life ( Revelation 20:4-6; 2 Corinthians 5:10 ), and they that are lost unto the resurrection of    damnation  ( Revelation 20:11-15).

We believe in a literal new heaven and new earth and where righteousness dwells ( 2 Peter 3:13 Revelation 21:22).

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord  Jesus Christ                                                          ( Psalm 133:1; Colossians 3:12-15).

We believe in the eternal security of all believers who have been born again (John 3:31; John 5:11-13; John 10:27-29; John 3:3,16).

We believe that God uses leaders to lead/serve His church.  (Eph 4:11,12; Titus 1:7-9; 1 Tim 3:1-7; 1 Timothy 5:17-22; 1 Peter 5:2; Matthew 20:26; Acts 20:28)

Shared Values

We believe that anointed teaching and relationships is the primary catalyst for transformation in the lives of individuals and in the church.

We believe that lost people matter to God and therefore ought to matter to the church.

We believe the church should be culturally relevant, while remaining doctrinally pure.

We believe that Christ followers should manifest authenticity and yearn for continuous growth.

We believe that the church should operate as a unified community of servants using their spiritual gifts.

We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life.

We believe that life change happens best in small groups.

We believe that excellence honors God and inspires people.

We believe that churches should be directed by those with leadership gifts.

We believe that full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer.

We believe that the church should remain debt free at all means.

We believe that those who want to serve in any type of leadership position in Breaking Free  should be apart of the body for a predetermined amount of time before fulfilling    such a role.

Minister Profile
Servant Leadership Training

Servant Leadership Training is an on-campus, residential training school where the equipping process can be worked out in those feeling called to ministry. It involves a three year commitment for the sole purpose of allowing God to develop the gift and calling in a disciple's life.  Mathew 22:14 says, "for many are called, but few are chosen."  In short, few are willing to answer the call, be obedient, and to allow God to develop them.  But to those who do choose this process, Jesus said "who will lose their lives for my sake, shall save them . . .," (Matthew 10:39).

Quality leadership does not come easily.  It requires time, dedication, study of the word, character building, and maturity which can only come from a structured process that provides experience.  Mature ministry flows from mature character that is most often formed in the graduate school of life.  A ministry can not be successful through gifting alone, because a leader whose ministry skills outweigh his character formation will eventually falter.  A mature, successful ministry flows from one who has ministry skills, relational skills, and godly character that has been tempered, developed, and ripened by God's specific and thorough processing.  Character formation is fundamental so that a person's ministry may flow out of being, not performance, or gifting.

The Servant Leadership Training focuses on all of these important areas of ministry, especially character formation.  It is a safe environment where unseasoned ministers can work out their callings by teaching, and being a part of hands on ministry.  This program is of no cost to those who feel led to answer the call and the commitment that is required.

We believe in a hands-on approach to ministry that is learned through internship and mentoring under seasoned leaders.
